Year 6 Term 1 Week 4 Blog

In English class the students shared their spelling stories with their peers. The students have been creating stories to share in class. For guided reading each groups continued to make prediction and read The Hatchet or Charlotte's Web.

In UOI class the students are narrowing down the information they have found regarding their selected countries to demonstrate the knowledge they have gained on the culture that is displayed within that country. The students have been making steady progress in designing their presentations which they will be presenting to the class in the coming weeks.

In Maths class we have began our unit on problem solving. The students are enjoying the challenge of each word problem while working in their groups. On Wednesday mornings we will now also have Ms. Charlie assisting in Maths class to work with some of our learners. We welcome her addition to our class during these periods as she enjoy teaching maths.

As a way to end out unit on puberty, we had a special guest present to our Year 6 & 7 students this week. Dr. Gong from Wattana Hospital has presented a very informative presentation for our students and was able to answer many of the students questions with professional advice. We thank him for his excellent presentation and are grateful for his support!

Year 6 Term 3 Week 6 Blog

English This week in English class the children worked on building their inferencing skills. The children were required to look at various slides and quotes and then respond to the inferencing questions relating to those slides and quotes. In addition the children received a list of 100 fun indoor activities that they could choose from to build various skills. For next week the children will work on reading different articles and will respond to their assigned questions. Maths In Maths class this week the children have been working on activities relating to converting decimals, percentages and fractions including word problems. For next week the learners will be working on fun problem solving skills that requires them to solve the maths mysteries. Geography geniuses

This week we have been continuing on with our unit on migration. In order to do this properly we need to know the world map well. We have given a fair amount of time to learning the names of the oceans and continents. The most enjoyable activity was using Google earth to find the places we are learning about. We even used 'Google Glasses' to watch 3D clips of far off places too. In our English lessons we have been reading about the migration experiences of young people. Our purpose was to do 'active reading'. This means that we have to think, take notes and talk to someone was we read. In this way, we understand the text more deeply. On Wednesday Our P.E teacher came to share his migration experience with us. He is Brazilian and taught us some basic facts about his country. It developed into a whole geography lesson about Brazil. OUR FIRST WEEK AS YEAR 6

We Are Year Six Welcome to Year 6. Here is our first photograph together. Why were we all smiling so much that day? Well, there are so many reasons. Firstly, we were glad to welcome Moriah, our new classmate from Idaho. We're looking forward to getting to know her more and finding out about where she has come from. Secondly, we realise that we are fortunate enough to have a large classroom with a beautiful view over green fields. Another reason for the smiles is that we also had the opportunity to arrange the room as we wanted it. A third reason is this: - Yes, we've enjoyed our first week together.
