Year 6 Term 3 Week 6 Blog

English This week in English class the children worked on building their inferencing skills. The children were required to look at various slides and quotes and then respond to the inferencing questions relating to those slides and quotes. In addition the children received a list of 100 fun indoor activities that they could choose from to build various skills. For next week the children will work on reading different articles and will respond to their assigned questions.   Maths   In Maths class this week the children have been working on activities relating to converting decimals, percentages and fractions including word problems. Year 6 Term 3 Week 5 Blog

English This week in English class the children worked on  3 different reading activities. Each day the children read a different biography about famous people. The children enjoyed learning about JK Rowling the most. For next week the children will be working on building their inferencing skills and will take part in activities that require them to respond to inferencing styled questions.  Maths   In Maths class this week the children have been working on a cumulative review assessment task based on place value and numeracy skills. This assessment will be used to guide future maths activities to help build areas that the children need additional support in. Year 6 Term 3 Week 4

English This week in English class the children worked on different reading and writing tasks. I have been providing a variety of text types to cater to the different interests that the children may have.  For next week the learners will be reading different child-friendly biographies on JK Rowling, Stand Lee and William Shakespeare. Maths   In Maths class this week the children have been working on building their skills in division . They have been assigned to different learning tasks each day. For next week the learners will be taking part in a cumulative review assessment task based on place value and numeracy skills. Year 6 Term 3 Week 3 Blog

English This week in English class the children worked on writing their self reflection for their end of the year school report. The children also work on various reading and writing tasks this week in relation to the short stories and articles they were assigned to each day. For next week we will be carrying on with reading articles and short stories to continue to build comprehension and fluency skills. Maths   In Maths class this week the children have been working on learning about both 2D and 3D Geometric Shapes. The children took part in a project were they were able to use the Planner 5D website to build a 3D model home. They also had the option to create a model city by using recycled paper, bottles, tissue rolls, etc. from home. The children also had a 3rd option to create different Geometric drawings.
