Year 6 Term 1 Week 13 Blog

In English class the students have been writing about the topic of the human circulatory system. The students had to research about the topic and write a reflection about what the main components are of the circulatory system.

In Maths class the students worked on statistics. The students are learning about ratios, probability and how to find the mean, median, mode and range of a set of numbers. The students will also cover this concept next week before being assessed on it.

In UOI class the students continued progressing with their student exhibition projects. The students are in the "Going Further Stage" of the inquiry cycle and have been encouraged to begin creating some models and designs for their projects.

Term 3 Wb 13th June

We have now reached the end of our school year and survived the challenges of Covid19 restrictions and online learning. It was really great to return to face to face learning on campus. For our final blog, we have asked the children to choose one photograph from this year that they feel is memorable. Term 3 Wb 6th June

Our Journey. We are now approaching the final week of our school year. End of Unit

This week we came to the end of our unit of inquiry on cultural beliefs and values. Back in August we had very little understanding about how culture impacts beliefs and values. However, as the weeks went by we engaged in many learning activities. The first of these was interviewing teachers to ask for their input on a definition of culture. We went on to watch mini-documentaries, read several information books and speak to people who could teach us about their culture. As a concluding activity, we came together as a class to produce a joint video which describes some essential points of cultures which we are interested in. This was an exercise in collaborating on a project and exercising social skills. As you can imagine, there was a lot of research to do, and so we had a good opportunity to put into practice all we have been learning about how to conduct research.
